Flooding update

The multi-agency response to the threat of floods across North Wales has now been stood down.

Chief Superintendent Jeremy Vaughan of North Wales Police who led the response said: "Thankfully the number of local incidents was low. We had however prepared for the worst, given the fact that we had three severe flood warnings across the area. On this occasion whilst it was unfortunate that some properties were flooded, the impact was less severe than anticipated, this could have been very much worse.

"I would remind people that severe flood warnings are only made when it is considered that there is a severe risk to life and property. When they are issued they must be taken seriously and people living or working in affected areas must heed the warning and make immediate arrangements to secure their own safety and, as far as possible, that of their property."

People who live or work in flood risk areas should ensure that they are signed up to Natural Resources Wales' flood warning system.
