Charities presented with bonfire donations

Local charities came together at Deeside Fire Station last night to receive a total of £3350.00, raised during the annual bonfire and fireworks display on the 5th of November.

 

Charities who received the donations included Hope 37, Shotton Community Association, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, North Wales Superkids, St Ethelwold's School, Cancer Research Deeside, Ellesmere Pprt Under 8s, Sealand Manor Community Group, Flintshire Disability Forum, Manley Court Tenants and Residents Association, Plymouth Street Friday Club, Nightingale House, Friends of Flintshire CAB, Wepre School PTA, Queensferry Residents Association, D.A.F.F.O.D.I.L.S, Deeside Silver Band, Flintshire Deaf Children's Society, North Wales Chrysalis Trust,  Hannah Hughes for Macmillan Cancer, Eye 2 Eye, Shotton Embroidery Club, Hospice of the Good Shephers, 1st Shotton Brownies, Hawarden Air Cadets, St Johns Ambulance, The Fire Fighters Charity, and the Baby Grow Appeal.

 

Simon Smith, Chief Fire Officer for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was present to present the cheques to representatives of the various charities.

 

Nigel Sephton, Deeside firefighter and one of the organisers of the event, said:

 

"The turn out for this year's fireworks display was great and I would like to thank each and every person attending for making it possible for us to donate to these worthy charities.

 

"It was a pleasure to see the charities receiving their cheques from Simon Smith, our Chief Fire Officer. I would like to thank Deeside Silver Band for playing during the presentation, and all the representatives for coming along to receive the donations.

 

"We are proud to be working with the residents ofNorth Walesto keep them as safe as possible, and seeing the money going back into the community makes all the organisation and hard work worthwhile.
